Robin Day Slat chairs, 1952

sold out

Designed by Robin Day in 1952, the Slat Chair is a rare early example of his modernist approach to postwar British design, and a precursor to his later Chevron chair. Originally featured in Hille’s first seating catalogue, it broke away from the bulky styles of the time with its low-slung frame, dowel legs and clean, open structure - drawing influence from American, Scandinavian and Japanese design.

These example has been reupholstered in deadstock Kvadrat fabric, selected by Irenie Studio as part of the onthesquare project to reflect the original colours and textures.

6 available.

A refined and increasingly hard-to-find piece.
