Alvar Aalto drop-leaf dining set, 1950s

£0.00
sold out

A characterful Aalto drop-leaf dining set with notable provenance, originating from the penthouse flat of architect F.R.S. Yorke, author of The Modern House (1936), above the offices of Yorke Rosenberg Mardall in Greystoke Place.

Yorke was an influential figure in British modernism, helping to introduce and shape modernist thinking in the UK. The set was acquired in 1975 by an architect who worked within the practice for 25 years.

The table retains clear traces of its working life, including clip marks to the surface where architectural drawings would have been held.

The table has now sold. A small number of stools remain available.
